Our professional translators make sure all documents and materials they translate are localised and tailored to the target language and its culture. By only assigning native translators, we make sure each document is translated by someone who knows the language and the culture like the back of their hand. Furthermore, every language is different, unique and complex in its own way, which is why we pay so much attention to the localisation of all materials. Translating them literally and word-for-word won’t cut the job, especially for certain specific sectors.
When translating marketing brochures for example, slogans and rhymes don’t always translate as intended in the target language. Expressions and plays on words, as well as cultural preferences and customs have to be considered. That’s why tailoring and localising the messages is so important.
The same goes for website translations: everything has to be displayed and expressed a certain way for websites to be clear and coherent. Translating a website in French for a French audience will be different than for a Canadian audience for example, although they speak the same language. Materials should therefore be tailored to each country.
Translating professional documents requires a certain knowledge in the related area and certain notions. Translating words is one thing, translating professional specific content is another. It is essential to have experience and to know about specific and technical terms, as well as procedures and norms to translate professional materials accurately and appropriately. Whether it is medical or legal translations, marketing materials or website translations, we make sure to have professional native translators that are specialized in each area available to be assigned and to guarantee the quality of the work.
Facts about the Croatian language
Croatian is a South-Slavic language from the Indo-European family of languages and derived from Old Church Slavic. There are currently about 5 million Croatian speakers.
It is one of the official languages of the European Union.
After the dissolution of Yugoslavia, three mutually intelligible languages appeared: Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian.
Although they are slightly different, they remain very similar and actually have more differences in the dialects within the languages themselves than between each other.
Croatian was originally written in the Glagolitic alphabet (in the earliest texts found in the Croatian language) and is now written in the Latin language. The oldest Croatian texts written in the Latin alphabet date back to the 14th century.
Croatian has a few loanwords from German, Turkish and Italian due to historical periods of occupying powers.
